It is the declared policy of the management of this division to design, manufacture and supply crystal materials and assemblies incorporating crystal materials and also to refurbish assemblies, to provide complete and consistent purchaser satisfaction in meeting the agreed specifications of all our Customers. We also endeavour to give unrivalled service and customer care by continual improvement in every aspect of contract compliance and by responding to and meeting all the special needs of each of our Customers.

Our principal objectives are:

1. That we meet and exceed our Customer's expectations in terms of compliance to contract, including both delivery and specification.
2. That we promote continuous improvement to refine and improve communication, methods, handling, control procedures, internal rejection rates and training to further improve our level of quality assurance and minimize costs.
3. That all crystal materials and assemblies comply with appropriate statutory health and safety requirements.
4. That the quality system set down in (the Hilger Crystals Quality Assurance) manual and the subordinate Quality Control Procedures meet all the requirements of BS:EN:ISO:9001 (1994)
5. That there is continuous observance of the quality system by all employees.

Year 2000 Compliance Policy

Hilger Crystals has adopted the following definition of Year 2000 Compliance as set forth by the British Standards Institution in DISC PD2000-1 A Definition of Year 2000 Conformity Requirements (available on the web at www.bsi.org.uk/disc/year2000/2000.html), with the qualification that the upper limit for compliance is the year 2035:

Year 2000 conformity shall mean that neither performance nor functionality is affected by dates prior to, during, and after the year 2000.

In particular:

1. No value for current date will cause any interruption in operation.
2. Date-based functionality must behave consistently for dates prior to, during, and after year 2000
3. In all interfaces and data storage, the century in any date must be specified either explicitly or by unambiguous algorithms or inferencing rules.
4. Year 2000 must be recognized as a leap year.

Hilger Crystals Ltd. supplies no products that have any date-based functionality. Neither does Hilger Crytals Ltd. supply third party parts or products that have any date-based functionality.

Parts and Products supplied by Hilger Crystals Ltd. may be considered Year 2000 Compliant as they obey the relevant rules of the BSI definition DISC PD2000-1, detailed above.

This statement is correct for all products supplied by Hilger Crystals Ltd. up to the end of July 1998. Any products supplied by Hilger Crystals Ltd. after that date and having date-based functionality will be issued with detailed Year 2000 Compliance Documentation.

Hilger Crystals Ltd. has completed a review of all internal systems with regard to their Compliance with the Year 2000.

This has involved internal testing of computer equipment and custom developed software, and contacting the suppliers or manufacturers of all third-party systems that provide date-based functionality, to confirm that these systems are, or can be upgraded to become, Year 2000 compliant.

All Hilger Crystals Ltd. internal systems, in use at the end of July 1998, will be Year 2000 compliant by the end of 1998. Any internal systems installed at Hilger Crystals Ltd. since July 1998 will have been installed only after being certified to be Year 2000 Compliant.

Hilger Crystals Ltd. is making every effort to ensure that it's internal systems will not adversely affect it's business with it's Vendors and Customers into and beyond the year 2000 (with particular attention to despatch, invoicing and payment systems).

Hilger Crystals Ltd. has initiated a programme of seeking confirmation from it's Vendors and Customers that they will be able to continue to perform business with Hilger Crystals Ltd. into and beyond the Year 2000. This requires that their systems for ordering, payment, despatch and invoicing (and other important product and financial systems) conform to the BSI definition of Year 2000 Compliance in all areas that may affect Hilger Crystals Ltd.

If you are a Vendor to, or Customer of, Hilger Crystals Ltd. then you may assist in our programme by sending us a copy of your own Year 2000 Policy detailing your conformity regarding your relevant products and internal systems that may affect your business performance with Hilger Crystals Ltd.

Hilger Crystals Ltd. wishes to make it clear that it will not be completing questionnaires regarding it's Year 2000 Compliance unless contractually obliged to do so. Hilger Crystals Ltd. has a prepared Year 2000 Policy, copies of which will be supplied upon application to the company (please mark you application: "FAO Year 2000 Co-ordinator")

Hilger Crystals Ltd. welcomes Year 2000 Policies from it's Vendors and Customers and will be applying for these before the end of 1998. If no Year 2000 policy is available then Hilger Crystals has a prepared questionnaire, the completion of which will allow us to advance with our own programme.
